Boston Celtics won the NBA final game 5 as they beat Dalls Maverics 106-88 on Tuesday at the TD Garden at Boston, Massachusetts, thereby winning the series 4-1. In the process, the Celtics claimed a record 18th title. Jayson Tatum emerged as the standout performer as he accumulated 31 points and 11 assists, winning his first ring.
The Celtics have been head and shoulders above all other teams in the NBA season of 2024, winning a whopping 64 games this season and advanced to the playoffs 16-3. The playoffs has seen them defeat the Mavericks with a convincing 4-1 margin to surpass Los Angeles Lakers for most titles in history.
The title victory is also the 2nd in 4 years for Jrue Holiday, who the Celtics roped in after Milwaukee Bucks let go of him. Holiday played an equally important part in the Celtics' victory, playing a robust defence against the likes of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Jaylen Brown wins the finals MVP award:
After winning the Eastern Conference finals MVP award, Jaylen Brown has now also become the MVP finals, joining elite players like John Havlicek, Larry Bird and Paul Pierce to earn the accolade.
"I share this with my brothers and my partner in crime Jayson Tatum," Brown said at the presentation ceremony.
