Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finally live his dream on Sunday as he won the Monaco Grand Prix F1 race in Monte Carlo. The Monagasque driver finished ahead of McLaren's Oscar Piastri and teammate Carlos Sainz.
Charles Leclerc is reported to have enjoyed a smooth drive as he lifted the championship in front of his home fans.
Charles Leclerc has finally clinched victory in the Monaco Grand Prix, cruising to the top spot in front of his hometown fans despite some early drama at the beginning.
The red flags flew before the first lap of the iconic race was even completed due to a massive collision involving Sergio Perez’s Red Bull and the two Haas cars driven by Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg, taking all three out of contention.
Leclerc got a clean start when the race resumed—minus Esteban Ocon, who had to retire after a heavy collision with his Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly on Lap 1. The race then became a strategic battle, with everyone watching to see if the leaders would pit or go the distance. But Leclerc stayed composed throughout, staying ahead of his rivals to claim his first victory on the streets of Monte Carlo, surpassing his previous best finish of fourth.
Oscar Piastri left behind by 7 seconds:
Leclerc crossed the finish line seven seconds ahead of Oscar Piastri, who drove confidently in the McLaren and fended off a late challenge from Carlos Sainz, securing a double podium for Ferrari with Sainz finishing third. Sainz, in turn, was under pressure from Lando Norris for much of the later stages, with the second McLaren finishing the day in fourth.
George Russell, sporting an upgraded front wing this weekend, was the top-performing Mercedes in fifth place, successfully holding off a charging Max Verstappen in what has been a tough few days for Red Bull. Lewis Hamilton followed in seventh, adding to the Silver Arrows’ points haul.
