Lucknow Super Giants put up an embarrassing batting display after Delhi Capitals put them into bat in their first game of IPL 2026. Rishabh Pant was run out early, while none of their batters could get going as Delhi had them on a string.

LSG slipped to 103/6 in the 14th over, prompting Rishabh Pant to use Shahbaz Ahmed as an impact player over their lead spinner Digvesh Rathi. That move did not pan out as well as he would have hoped for, with the hosts being skittled out of 141.

In response, LSG started off with a bang as Mohammed Shami struck with his first ball. Mohsin Khan and Prince Yadav also delivered impressive spells as Delhi were reeling at 26/4.

However, Delhi's decision to bring in Rizvi and then promote Tristan Stubbs over David Miller proved to be a game clincher. The duo put on a century stand to bat Lucknow out of the contest. Despite a slowish start, the duo later accelrated to finish the game off in just 17.1 overs.
