In a dramatic and bizarre moment during the IPL 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on May 4, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant not only lost his wicket but also his bat while attempting to play an aggressive shot.

The incident occurred during a key phase of LSG’s chase when Azmatullah Omarzai bowled a well-directed delivery that cramped Pant for room. In an attempt to go big, Pant swung hard but lost complete grip of the bat mid-shot. The bat flew dramatically toward square leg, while the ball—caught off the toe end—sailed toward deep point, where Shashank Singh safely completed the catch.

For Punjab Kings, it was a crucial breakthrough, removing the dangerous left-hander at a critical juncture. Omarzai celebrated the wicket while Shashank Singh, who earlier hit a six out of the stadium, once again made a key contribution—this time in the field.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) delivered a commanding performance to defeat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 37 runs in a thrilling IPL 2025 match at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on May 4.

Punjab Kings posted a mammoth total of 236/5 in their 20 overs, powered by a blistering innings from opener Prabhsimran Singh, who scored 91 runs off 48 balls, smashing 6 boundaries and 7 sixes. He was well supported by skipper Shreyas Iyer, who contributed a quickfire 45 off 25 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes, keeping the run rate high throughout the innings. Despite the high-scoring assault, Akash Singh emerged as the standout bowler for LSG, finishing with 2 wickets for 30 runs in his 4 overs, showing great control under pressure.

Chasing a steep target of 237, LSG put up a spirited fight but could only manage 199/7 in their 20 overs. Ayush Badoni played a brilliant knock of 74 off 40 balls, hitting 5 fours and 5 sixes, while Abdul Samad added firepower with 45 off 24 balls, including 2 fours and 4 sixes. However, Punjab's bowlers maintained their composure, with Arshdeep Singh leading the charge. He bowled a superb spell, taking 3 wickets for just 16 runs in his full quota of 4 overs, effectively sealing the game for his side.
