Swet Poojary from Forest Club set the pool on fire with hat-trick of record-breaking performances on the first day when six new records were set in the GMAAA-MIG annual open swimming championships, held at their Bandra’s MIG Swimming Pool.
Swet first topped in the 50m breast stroke with a new timing of 00:32.87 seconds, re-writing Om Satam’s 2024 timing of 00:32.93. He followed it by capturing gold in the 50m butterfly, bettering his own old timing 00:27.76 and then ended the day with 100m individual medley event (01:03.66 secs.), thus eclipsing Om Satam’s last year’s 01:04.33 secs. in the boys under-16 category.
Others to share Swet’s record-breaking spree, were Nivedita Shah (DSC) in the 50m back stroke (00:32.93) girls under-18 section, Utkkarsh Mehta (JVPGC) in the boys under-14 50m breaststroke and Gatha Pawar from CSMSS, who captured gold in the girls under-50 m breaststroke event.
