Australian cricketers were seen wearing black armbands during their ICC World Cup 2023 match agains the Netherlands in Delhi on Wednesday.
Fans started wondering who's demise they were mourning until it was finally revealed that it was for fellow cricketer Fawad Ahmed, who lost his four-month-old son on October 23.
Ahmed's infant boy died Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne two days ago after a "painful and tough fight" with illness.

Who is Fawad Ahmed?
The 41-year-old Pakistan-born cricketer played for Australia in 2013, featuring in just 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is for his adopted country. He bagged 3 wickets in both formats before falling out of favour with the Aussie selectors.
Ahmed still plays club cricket in Victoria and hopes to continue his career in the Big Bash League, having most recently played for the Melbourne Renegades.

The tragic death
Fawad and his wife had welcomed their second child in June this year but he started developing severe health issues soon after birth.
On Monday, Ahmed revealed the tragic news of his son's death on social media along with pictures of the baby.
"Till we meet again my little angel, Unfortunately after a long struggle my little man has lost the painful & tough fight, I believe you are in a better place, we will miss you so much., I hope no one ever goes through this pain, Request for Prayers," Ahmed tweeted on X.
The Australian team therefore, decided to pay their respects to Ahmed's son by wearing black armbands against the Netherlands.
