77th Police Invitation Shield Cricket: PJ Hindu Gymkhana Score 292 Runs on First Day

PJ Hindu Gymkhana, batting first, amassed 292 runs in just 75 overs, against Victory Cricket Club on the first day of their three-day final of the 77th Police Invitation Shield Cricket final at the Police Gmykhana ground on Saturday.

Asked to bat first, P J Hindu's, Siddhant Adhatrao led the charge with a neat knock of 89 runs, exhibiting his class and composure at the crease.

Siddhesh Lad, a seasoned Mumbai campaigner, chipped in with an important 67 runs, stabilizing the innings in the middle overs. Ajit Yadav added a crucial 58 runs, providing much-needed impetus to the scoring rate.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the team’s ability to post a challenging total was commendable. However, their innings folded after 75 overs, falling short of utilizing the full 90 overs.

Victory Cricket Club’s bowlers put in a collective effort to restrict the opposition. Royston Dias was economical, picking up two wickets for just 37 runs.

Parikshit Valasangkar (2/51) and Atharva Ankolekar (2/63) made crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs.

Chasing 292, Victory Cricket Club faced an uphill task but started cautiously in their 10-over stint before stumps. They managed to reach 47/1, showing signs of intent.

Divyansh Saxena anchored the innings with an unbeaten 37 runs, displaying a mix of aggression and patience. His performance will be key to the team’s pursuit on Day 2.
