'Some Indian women are lazy': Sonali Kulkarni

In the video which is now doing the rounds on the internet, Sonali can be heard saying, "In India, there are a lot of women who are just lazy. They want a husband who has a good job, own house, guaranteed increments, but they do not know what they want to do for themselves."

She went on to say, "I want to advice everyone that encourage the women of your house and make them capable enough that they can fend for themselves, who can share the household expenses with her partner."

She also extended her support to men and said that in the Indian society, they feel more pressure than women to start earning for the family as soon as they turn 18.

She clarified, "Not all women are like that. But this aggression and this demanding nature has been growing quite a lot. We need to see the situation with humbleness and equality. Paying bills and buying groceries should not be restricted to men only."

Netizens laud Sonali for her comment

As soon as the video went viral, netizens lauded Sonali for speaking up about the issue and supporting men, despite being a woman herself.

"Spot on, so glad someone spoke abt this! This bias begins at home, parents expect from sons and not daughters when it comes to finances. A woman’s earnings is her own, where as a man’s is for all. Women are never equal unless they fight for shared responsibilities with men," a user commented.

Another Twitterati wrote, "A need of the hour is ban on alimony too. If girls are rubbing shoulders with boys in every walk of life- from driving locomotives to leading contingent of regiments on Republic Day parade, why do they ask for Alimony on divorce?"
