The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is currently hosting its 43rd annual Fruit, Flower, and Vegetable Exhibition at Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje Udyan, Jangali Maharaj Road, Shivajinagar. The event, which started on Saturday, February 15, will conclude today, February 16.

The exhibition is part of PMC’s anniversary celebrations and was inaugurated by PMC Commissioner Rajendra Bhosle. The event aims to raise awareness about the importance of trees and plants in human life, encouraging public participation in horticulture. It features 12 sections with 210 sub-sections, showcasing decorative plants, herbs, roses, floral arrangements, seasonal flowers, vegetables, fruits, garlands, bonsai displays, and more.

Notable attractions include replicas of gardens, floral decorations, wood sculptures, paper crafts, and architectural models of PMC structures. Participating organizations include Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune Metro, NDA, CME, Forest Department, Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Environment Centre, and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

Special thematic concepts such as “My Vasundhara,” “Plant a Tree, Live a Tree,” and PMC’s 75th Amrit Mahotsav floral decorations are the highlights.

The prize distribution ceremony for competition winners will be held today at 5pm at Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje Udyan.

Ashok D Korpade, Chief Park Superintendent & Member Secretary, Tree Authority, PMC, said, “The exhibition is free for all citizens and will remain open today from 8am to 8.30pm. Visitors can explore stalls selling flowers, fruit tree seedlings, gardening materials, seeds, and fertilizers.”
