The condition of the road stretch from Dehu to Yelawadi in Maval taluka in Pune has come under serious public scrutiny after multiple accidents occurred within just three hours. The damaged road, filled with huge potholes, has become a major hazard for daily commuters, especially two-wheeler riders.
Now, a viral CCTV clip showed that ten accidents have been reported at the same spot. Locals had earlier raised concerns and appealed to the administration to repair the potholes. Responding to the complaints, the administration carried out temporary repair work by filling the potholes with murrum (loose soil and gravel).
However, the situation has only worsened since the recent rains. The murrum turned into mud, which then spread across the road, making the surface extremely slippery. As a result, several two-wheeler riders have lost control of their vehicles, leading to serious falls and injuries.
The temporary fix, which was supposed to prevent accidents, is ironically contributing to them. Locals say that the lack of proper repair shows negligence and are now urging the authorities to take swift and serious action before someone loses their life.
The people of the area are demanding that the potholes be properly repaired with quality materials and that long-term solutions be implemented. They hope that the authorities will act quickly and responsibly to ensure the safety of all road users.
