In a bid to deal with citizens professionally and implement good governance practices, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is imparting Artificial Intelligence (AI) skill development training to its employees. Under the state government's '100 Day Action Plan', PMC organised a special AI training workshop for its senior officials.

The training sessions were conducted in collaboration with Training Prabodhini and the Information Technology Department of PMC to equip employees with the knowledge and tools needed to use AI in everyday governance.

Over 367 officers, including department heads, Class 1 and Class 2 officials, and health officers, attended the workshop. The training was led by AI and IT experts Dr Bhushan Kelkar, Dr Amey Pangarkar and Dr Madhura Kelkar, who shared practical insights, live demonstrations and best practices for using AI in administrative tasks.

"AI is not just a tool, it's a game-changer for government operations," said Dr Bhushan Kelkar, while explaining how AI can improve efficiency in areas like document handling, data analysis and public service delivery. The trainers also focused on the responsible use of AI and how it can help enhance transparency and accountability.

The event saw active participation from PMC officials, with many showing enthusiasm to explore AI tools during the sessions.

The workshop also received special attention and encouragement from senior PMC leadership. Additional Municipal Commissioners Pradeep Chandran and Prithviraj BP were present to guide and support the initiative. The programme was introduced by Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Nandkar, and System Manager Rahul Jagtap extended a warm welcome and expressed gratitude to all participants.
