Pune: The 12-year-old daughter of Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) MLA Rohit Pawar’s personal assistant was found dead near her home in Baramati on Sunday morning, police said. The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and police are examining all possible angles.

The girl was found near her residence in the Sai Nagar area of Rui village in Baramati tehsil. She was the daughter of Pawar’s personal assistant, Ajit Dashavatare.

According to police-based reports, the girl had a minor argument with her mother on Saturday night. She then reportedly left home in anger and did not return. Her family later approached the police and lodged a missing-person complaint.

Police were informed after her body was found near the family’s residence on Sunday morning. A police team reached the spot and began an investigation. The body was sent to Baramati Government Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

A forensic team also examined the area around the spot where the body was found. Investigators are collecting evidence to establish what happened after the girl left home and the circumstances that led to her death.

Police have not yet established whether the death was a suicide, homicide or an accident. A senior police official said the investigation was considering all possible angles.

CCTV Footage Being Examined

Investigators are also examining available CCTV footage from buildings near the area. The footage could help establish the girl’s movements after she left home and provide clues about when and how she reached the area where she was found.

However, CCTV coverage in the surrounding area is reportedly limited. This could make it difficult for investigators to reconstruct her movements.

The post-mortem examination is also expected to help establish the cause and approximate time of death.

Rohit Pawar Meets Police & Doctors

Rohit Pawar reached Baramati after learning about the incident. He met police officials and medical officers at Baramati Government Medical College and Hospital.

Pawar said Dashavatare had been associated with him since his Zilla Parishad days. He described the death of his aide’s daughter as a major tragedy for the family.

Pawar urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that there was no negligence during the post-mortem examination. He said the police should establish exactly what happened and why the girl died.

When asked whether the death appeared to be a suicide or foul play, Pawar did not speculate. He said the investigation was still incomplete and it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions before the evidence was examined.

Pawar also raised concerns over limited CCTV coverage in the area. He said the lack of cameras in some parts of Baramati could make it harder to reconstruct the sequence of events.

He also spoke about the wider law-and-order situation in Baramati. However, he did not directly blame the police for the girl’s death and said it was too early to determine whether there was any police or administrative lapse in the case.

The investigation is continuing. Police are awaiting the post-mortem findings and other evidence before determining the cause and manner of death.
