Jalgaon: Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹1,445.68 crore were signed with 102 entrepreneurs at the District-Level Investment Summit-2026 held in Jalgaon on Saturday. The proposed investments are expected to create around 4,716 employment opportunities in the district.

Guardian Minister Gulabrao Patil, who inaugurated the summit, urged entrepreneurs to invest in Jalgaon and provide maximum employment to local youth. He assured investors of full support from the government and administration to set up and expand industries in the district.

The summit was organised by the Directorate of Industries and the District Industries Centre at Hotel President Cottage, MIDC, Jalgaon, to attract fresh investments, encourage industrial development and generate employment.

Push for D-Plus Status

Patil said persistent efforts had been made with Industries Minister Uday Samant to secure D-Plus status for industrial areas in Jalgaon district. During the summit, Patil spoke to Samant over the phone and sought an early government order on the matter.

Samant assured him that a meeting would be held on Tuesday to take the process forward. The development is expected to improve the investment climate and provide additional incentives for industries in the district.

Patil also said around 1,000 industrial plots are currently available in the district. These include 123 plots at Chalisgaon MIDC, 573 at Jamner and 304 at Bhusawal. He appealed to entrepreneurs to utilise the available land and establish new industries locally.

The construction of Udyog Bhavan, which will provide various permissions and facilities to entrepreneurs under one roof, is around 80 to 85 per cent complete. Efforts are being made to make the facility operational soon.

Focus on Exports and Local Employment

Patil said Jalgaon has been included among 120 districts selected under a Central Government initiative to promote exports. He said the district has strong potential to export products such as bananas, cotton and other locally produced goods.

He also stressed the need to encourage women entrepreneurs, self-help groups and small-scale industries. According to him, smaller businesses can also create significant employment opportunities.

“Jalgaon has the potential to emerge as a strong centre for industry, investment and exports. This will require coordinated efforts by entrepreneurs, the administration and the government,” Patil said.

Technical Textiles Seen as Growth Sector

Textile Minister Sanjay Savkare highlighted the potential of technical textiles in Jalgaon. He said the district could produce products for the medical, agriculture and defence sectors and urged entrepreneurs to make use of available government subsidies and incentives.

Savkare also appealed to local entrepreneurs to consider investing in Jalgaon instead of setting up new ventures outside the district. He assured them that the government would work to address difficulties faced by industries.

Additional Collector Shrimant Harkar said the summit had attracted proposed investments of more than ₹1,400 crore, with the potential to create nearly 5,000 jobs. He also highlighted the scope for agri-tourism in the district and called for new technical courses focused on industry requirements to create a skilled workforce.

Around 80 per cent of the investment commitments made at earlier summits have reportedly been implemented, officials said.

Textile Minister Sanjay Savkare, MLA Suresh Bhole, Zilla Parishad CEO Karishma Nair, Additional Collector Shrimant Harkar, Joint Commissioner of Industries Vrushali Sone, Deputy Commissioner Santosh Gawali, entrepreneurs and officials from the Industries Department were present. Sone delivered the introductory remarks.
