Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district kabaddi team has been selected for the Maharashtra State Selection Competition to be held in Nashik from April 2 to 6. The team was chosen after a rigorous selection process that saw participation from around 200 players across the district.

Officials said the final squad includes a balanced mix of experienced and young players. The selection trials were conducted in the presence of key members of the district kabaddi association and sports officials. Among those present were District Kabaddi Association president Ajay Pathrikar; Dr Kailas Ambhure, Director of the Board of Students Welfare at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University; Dr Balasaheb Pawar; trainer Dr Manik Rathod; Sunil Dube; and Krishna Rathod.

The selected players were also provided with official kabaddi kits during the event. Ganesh Chavan has been appointed as the captain of the team. Other team members include Alkesh Chavan, Krishna Pawar, Rahul Teke, Samadhan Thale, Ajay Dhokle, Onkar Wagh, Prashant Avhad, Tushar Dange, Sandeep Gaikwad, Pranav Bhume, Nilesh Lipne, Yogesh Chavan, and Faizan Shah.

Speaking at the event, Dr Ambhure said that while individual talent is important, strong team spirit and coordination are key to success in kabaddi. He encouraged players to maintain confidence and work together as a unit during the competition.

Ajay Pathrikar congratulated the selected players and expressed confidence in their performance at the state level. He wished the team success in the upcoming tournament.

Dr Manik Rathod will serve as the team’s trainer, while Vitthal Shelke has been appointed as the team manager. The team is expected to leave for Nashik shortly to participate in the competition.
