Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge has commended the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) for removing nearly 2,000 unauthorised constructions between March 3 and March 11.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Landge wrote, "In just nine days, PMRDA has removed approximately 2,000 unauthorised constructions, freeing up nearly 2 lakh square feet of road space. This decisive action will help ease traffic congestion and improve mobility across key roads in Pune."
The National Highways, Public Works Department (PWD), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) officials were also part of the drive undertaken on Pune-Nashik Road, Pune-Solapur Road and Chandni Chowk-Paud Road.
Landge also provided details of the razing of the illegal encroachments. "On Pune-Nashik Road, 702 encroachments were removed, freeing up 70,200 square feet of land, while 772 unauthorised constructions were demolished on Pune-Solapur Road, clearing 77,200 square feet of space. On Chandani Chowk–Paud Road, 518 encroachments were removed and 51,800 square feet of area was freed. In all, 1,992 unauthorised constructions were removed and 1,99,200 square feet of space was recovered," the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said.
"This initiative marks a significant step toward a more organised and congestion-free Pune & Pimpri-Chinchwad," he concluded.
