Two youths from Arvi in Koregaon taluka were duped of ₹6.5 lakh by a woman who promised them jobs as TCs in the railways. A case has been registered against Sanjeevani Nilesh Pathane (resident of Pune) at the Rahimatpur police station. Dhanaji Nivrutti Gaikwad (resident of Arvi, Koregaon taluka) filed the complaint regarding the incident.

Railway job scams have become a significant concern across the country, with many unsuspecting individuals falling prey to fraudulent schemes. These scams typically involve fake promises of securing jobs in the Indian Railways for a hefty fee.

According to Gaikwad's complaint, his son Aniket Gaikwad and Sajir Salim Mulani were friends. In September 2019, Aniket visited Sajir’s house, where they discussed job opportunities in the railways. Upon hearing about these job prospects, Aniket asked Sajir's father, Salim, to inquire further. Salim was told by Pathane that Aniket could get a railway job for ₹6 lakh. After negotiations, the amount was reduced to ₹5 lakh. Pathane then asked for ₹2 lakh as an advance and the original school documents of Aniket.

On October 3, 2021, Pathane called Aniket and asked for the ₹2 lakh and documents, promising that the job would be secured within 15 days. Later, after multiple calls and follow-ups, the Gaikwads transferred a total of ₹2.5 lakh via an NFT and another ₹49,000. However, after the promised time passed, Pathane began giving vague answers when questioned about the job.

When Gaikwad visited Pathane’s address in Pune, he found that she had left. Upon further inquiry, he discovered that Pathane had been arrested by the Nigdi police station for other crimes. Gaikwad then realized he had been deceived out of ₹4,99,500, and Mulani had lost ₹1,50,000. Gaikwad subsequently filed a complaint at Rahimatpur police station.
