In an inspiring tale of determination and perseverance, 58-year-old Suvarna Vinayak Pawar, an Anganwadi worker from Kudal village in Satara’s Jawali taluka, has successfully passed her Class 12 examination.
With a score of 50.83% in the Maharashtra State Board’s Class 12 exams, Suvarna has proven that age is no barrier to learning. Her remarkable journey, filled with obstacles and sacrifices, is being celebrated as nothing less than a cinematic achievement.
Born in Mahuli (Satara), Suvarna completed her education up to the 10th standard from Shriram High School, Mahuli. However, like many women of her generation, she had to give up her academic aspirations after getting married at the age of 19. Life thereafter was filled with struggles, but Suvarna never let go of her dream to continue her education.
Now, nearly four decades later, she has fulfilled that dream.
Working with the Women and Child Development Department of Maharashtra, Suvarna began her career as a helper at an Anganwadi in Kudal. In 2010, she was promoted to the position of Anganwadi worker. Throughout the years, she balanced her responsibilities at work and home with resilience.
Family support crucial in success
Supported by her husband, Vinayak Maruti Pawar, and her brother-in-law, Suresh Pawar, Suvarna enrolled at New English School and Junior College in Humgaon to pursue her Class 12 studies. Her family — including her two sons, daughter, daughters-in-law, and son-in-law — stood by her and offered unwavering support.
Notably, Suvarna has also ensured equal opportunities for the women in her family. One daughter-in-law is pursuing a diploma in civil engineering, while the other works alongside her as an Anganwadi helper. She takes pride in having encouraged all her children and daughters-in-law to pursue higher education without discrimination.
Suvarna’s achievement is not just personal — it is a testament to the power of determination, family support, and the belief that it’s never too late to follow your dreams. Her success has earned her praise from Anganwadi officials, local leaders, and the community at large.
