In a shocking case, a 28-year-old man, originally from Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh and currently residing in Pune's Dhayari area, allegedly murdered his wife by strangling her and was later caught by the police while carrying her body in a gunny bag on a bike in the early hours of Tuesday, officials said. The man and his wife have been identified as Rakesh Nisar and Babita Nisar, respectively, officials added.

According to the police, Rakesh killed his 26-year-old wife around midnight following a domestic dispute, while their eight-year-old son was also present at home. In a bid to dispose of the body, he placed it in a gunny bag. Around 1.30am, a police team on night patrol spotted him. The cops stopped him and began questioning him. However, he tried to flee. He was caught on the road from Bhumkar Bridge to Swaminarayan Temple, and upon examining the gunny bag, the police discovered the body and arrested him.

A case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against the man at Nanded City Police Station.

Further investigation is underway to establish the exact timeline and motive for the murder.
