One of the secrets for feeling successful and attracting bountiful abundance is to believe in the axiom : ‘Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change’. It is said that at the tiniest subatomic level, the actual act of observing a particle changes the particle. The way we observe the small block of life is the determining factor of what it ultimately delivers.

As is the microcosm, so is the macrocosm. Therefore your intention to feel successful and experience prosperity and abundance depends on what view you have of yourself, the universe and your expectation of the outcome.

The way you look at life is essentially a barometer of your expectations, what you have been taught, are worthy of and capable of achieving. Your expectations are largely based on the beliefs of limitations, scarcity and pessimism of what is possible and what you can achieve.

Genius remains in the shadows and may even be locked and chained. Many people attempt less and perform below their capacity, in order to avoid disappointment in future. One has to give 100 per cent of oneself to the task on hand and do the best everytime, to get the best results.

Cassius Clay, later Muhammad Ali once said, “If I were a street sweeper, I would try to be the ‘greatest’ at whatever I did.” Well, we can also become ‘greatest’, if we do anything the best way and enjoy it.

We have heard of a footballer who when asked why he missed the goal says: “For a moment I took my eyes off the ball”. A motorist after a traffic accident says: “I took my eyes off the road for a moment”. It is better that we keep our eyes and mind on the task on hand.

Edward Gibbon (1737-1794) said: “We improve ourselves by victories over ourselves.” We need constantly and honesty to appraise where we are, in relation to our goals.

A friend of mine had a rags-to-riches story to narrate. After completing his education, he set out with a burning ambition to be successful. He saw his future in sales. Forty years later, his company is listed on the stock market and is worth 100 crores.

When I met him we talked about the lessons he had learnt in life. He said: “I have experienced many highs and lows, faced defeat, twists and turns and overcame those with sheer will, determination and commitment. The mantra is ‘Make it Happen’.”
