Mumbai : The police made four more arrests in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old man, who was stabbed to death at Carter Road on Monday night, increasing the number of arrests to five. The girlfriend of the deceased has also been arrested.
According to the police, before the murder, the deceased Rizwan Khan’s group and the prime accused Arshad Shaikh’s group were involved in a fight at Madness pub on SV Road at Khar (West). The fight reportedly started when Khan went to the pub and saw his girlfriend with Shaikh.
After the fight, everyone left the pub. At around 10.30pm on Monday, Khan called Zoya, his girlfriend, and enquired about her location.
She revealed that she was with Shaikh and was at Carter Road.
Khan immediately left to meet her, while Shaikh’s group had already made plans to kill him before he had arrived. As soon as Khan reached the spot, Shaikh and his friends caught hold of him and stabbed him.
According to sources, Zoya was well aware about the plan and therefore has been arrested.
“We made the arrests after inquiry on the basis of the first arrest made on day one, and after getting more clues, we arrested four more accused in the case,” said a police officer from Khar police station.
Khan was brutally murdered at Carter Road in Bandra West, at around 11pm on Monday. Around five youths came and started assaulting Khan on the promenade, opposite Café Coffee Day.
After stabbing Khan, the accused along with the girl, fled the area. Khan’s friends then took him to Bhabha Hospital, where he was declared dead before admission, police said.
