Thane: Thane traffic police temporarily deactivated tyre killers from Shivaji Path near the Thane station. Traffic police made this decision because the sharp objects were hurting pedestrians. According to Thanekars, the route is congested because it leads to a Thane railway station.

Due to traffic, tyre killers were put in place to stop vehicles from going in the wrong direction. Thane's traffic police stated there will be CCTV camera's on the spot, which will help them check the complaints.

''The tyre killers were installed on an experimental basis on Shivaji Path have been deactivated until the CCTVs are installed, we want to check if pedestrians are accidentally walking in the opposite direction, and if not, we can adjust the angle of the spike, "said Pankaj Shirsat, DCP traffic, Thane-Manoj Badgeri'', as per reports by The Times of India.

What was the objective of Tyre Killers?

The main objective of tyre killers is to stop vehicles from driving on the wrong side and to stop accidents on the road. This tyre killer will also help to reduce traffic on the road as per traffic police.

Thanekars stated that this new change could be done on the other unbusy roads; why on the station road? During peak hours, Station Road gets very busy, and pedestrians don't have space to walk.

Since this is deactivated temporarily the Thane traffic police will check now and understand the situation and complaints from the CCTVs operated on the spot.
