Thane: The Kongaon police arrested a man for allegedly attacking a 19-year-old girl, injuring her with a sharp weapon after raping her in Bhiwandi. The police said that the accused left her with injuries and fled the scene.
The accused has been identified as Kunal Paswan, a resident of the Kongaon area in Bhiwandi, and works as an accountant in a private firm, while the victim is also working there. The victim and the accused had a romantic relationship; both live in the same locality. The police said that the accused stabbed her, causing serious injuries to her neck and hand.
According to the police, the victim lived in the Kongaon area while the accused also lived in the same locality. She was a friend of his, and following the friendship, it turned into love.
The police said that on February 11, the victim was missing, and family members started to search for her, but she remained untraceable. Subsequently, they approached the police station and filed a missing persons complaint. On February 12, the victim's parents received information that the victim had been injured after being stabbed with a sharp weapon and was admitted to the hospital.
According to the police, the auto rickshaw driver found a girl lying in a pool of blood. He immediately alerted the locals and police and took her to a nearby hospital, where doctors referred her to JJ Hospital for further treatment. The police said that they started to probe, and they learned that Paswan allegedly raped her after promising to marry her.

Netaram Mhaske, a Senior Police Inspector from Kongaon Police Station said, "During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the victim allegedly demanded that he marry her, and he called her to an isolated place; hence, the accused took drastic steps and allegedly stabbed her to injure her. Paswan was arrested and produced in court, which remanded him to police custody for further investigation."
