Thane, April 1: A late-night fire broke out in a residential building in Diva (West) early Wednesday morning, caused by a suspected electrical short circuit. While the incident resulted in property damage, officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported.
Incident details and location
The Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation received an emergency call at approximately 01:54 AM from the Diva Beat Fire Station.
The blaze occurred in Room No. 103 on the first floor of Baburao Residency, a ground-plus-four-storey structure located near the Hanuman Temple close to Diva Railway Station.
According to fire officials, the fire originated in the kitchen of the flat owned by Mr. Dinesh Sawant and occupied by tenant Sushil Mestri. A short circuit in the electrical board ignited, quickly spreading to the refrigerator.
Emergency response
Deployment: One rescue vehicle and a team of fire brigade personnel were dispatched immediately to the site.
Damage: The fire destroyed the electrical wiring, the switchboard, and the refrigerator.
Containment: Firefighters successfully extinguished the flames by 02:44 AM.

The RDMC confirmed that the situation is now under control. Residents are advised to conduct regular maintenance of domestic wiring to prevent such electrical mishaps.
