In a shocking incident, a 41-year-old head constable attached to the Tulinj police station in Nallasopara allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a service revolver inside the cabin of the senior police inspector on Thursday morning.
The deceased constable who has been identified as Sakharam Bhoye (41) was on night duty. According to sources, Bhoye took the extreme step in the restroom of the police inspectors cabin at around 8 am.
He was found in a pool of blood by his other on duty colleagues who rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be ascertained.
A resident of Chandansar area in Nallasopra, Bhoye was attached to the erstwhile Palghar (rural) police for the past four years.
The rural law enforcing force has been recently elevated to commissionerate status by amalgating the policing machineries of Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar.
The body has been sent for post mortem, the report's of which were awaited. ACP Amol Mandve is conducting further investigations in the case.
