Nalasopara, April 1: In a swift and decisive operation, the Pelhar police have cracked a sensational murder case involving a decapitated body found in Nalasopara (East) within just eight hours.

Police step up action amid rising crime

The Superintendent of Police held a press conference to share details of the breakthrough, highlighting the department's "Action Mode" in tackling the surge in local crime.

The investigation was launched after a headless body was discovered in the Pelhar area, sparking panic in the locality. Through rapid forensic and technical analysis, the victim was identified as 32-year-old Ashok Singh Rajput, a native of Rajasthan.

Financial dispute led to murder

According to the police, the murder was the result of a financial dispute.
The victim and the accused were associates in a grocery business.
The transactions escalated, leading the two suspects to kill their own companion.

In an attempt to destroy evidence and prevent identification, the killers decapitated the body and disposed of the head separately.

Forensic and technical analysis aid probe

Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sachin Kamble, the team utilised a combination of CCTV for tracking movements in the vicinity, analysing mobile data and locations, and corroborating leads from local sources.

Following the arrest and subsequent confession of the suspects, police recovered the victim's head and other vital evidence from the Tansa River area.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Dinesh Prajapati (27), resident of Pelhar, and Sandeep Tiwari (35), resident of Virar (East).
