Palghar, Maharashtra: Palghar district received investment proposals worth ₹5,096.77 crore, with the potential to generate around 7,830 employment opportunities, at the District Investors Summit 2026. The summit was held at the District Planning Committee Hall at the Collector’s Office.

A total of 95 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the summit, which saw participation from more than 350 investors, entrepreneurs, industry representatives, government officials and other stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, Maharashtra Forest Minister and Guardian Minister of Palghar district Ganesh Naik said Palghar is steadily emerging as an important industrial and economic centre, supported by expanding infrastructure, improved connectivity and a growing manufacturing ecosystem. “Industrial growth must ultimately translate into better education, healthcare, employment, economic empowerment and an improved quality of life for local citizens,” he said, stressing that development would be pursued without compromising environmental sustainability.

Major Investment Proposals

The proposed investments span a wide range of sectors, including metals and metal products, recycling and waste management, chemicals and petrochemicals, packaging, engineering and machinery, textiles, electrical and electronics, construction materials, plastics and rubber, pharmaceuticals, automobile components, healthcare products, infrastructure and food processing.

Among the major proposals, Sky Green Recycling Industries Pvt. Ltd. (EOU) proposed an investment of ₹325 crore, with the potential to create around 1,000 jobs.

Aero Plast Packaging proposed ₹300 crore, expected to generate around 340 jobs, while MPCL Industries Ltd. proposed an investment of ₹250 crore.

Vstar Metal Industries Pvt. Ltd. proposed ₹225 crore, with an estimated 350 employment opportunities, while Gujarat Copper Alloys Ltd. proposed an investment of ₹200 crore.

Together, these five major proposals account for approximately ₹1,300 crore of the proposed investment.

Sustainable Industrial Growth

Naik emphasised that industrialisation must go hand in hand with environmental protection. Referring to rising temperatures, extreme rainfall, flooding and the wider impact of climate change, he said industries must take responsibility for controlling air, water and noise pollution. “Development is necessary, but not at the cost of the environment,” he said.

He also called upon gram panchayats, urban local bodies, teachers, village-level officials and voluntary organisations to participate actively in tree plantation, social forestry and environmental conservation initiatives.

Infrastructure to Transform Connectivity

The Guardian Minister said major infrastructure projects such as the Samruddhi Mahamarg, Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train, highways, railway expansion, metro connectivity and Vadhvan Port would significantly strengthen Palghar’s connectivity with major economic centres.

He said Vadhvan Port is expected to emerge as a strategically important port, generating substantial opportunities in exports, logistics, manufacturing, trade and allied services.

Naik also spoke about a proposal to promote a furniture manufacturing hub over nearly 1,000 acres in the Vadhvan region through the Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM).

The initiative could utilise quality teak timber from areas such as Ballarshah in Vidarbha for high-value furniture manufacturing. Efforts could also be made to attract major domestic and international players, including companies of the scale of IKEA, with FDCM exploring possible support in land, timber and other facilities.

Strong MSME Ecosystem

Palghar already has a substantial industrial base, with 49,006 Udyam-registered MSMEs, comprising 48,926 micro, 73 small and seven medium enterprises. Together, these units account for approximately 1.85 lakh employment opportunities. The district also has 297 large industries.

Officials said fresh large-scale investments could further strengthen local MSMEs through vendor development, ancillary manufacturing, procurement, maintenance and service linkages.

Single-Window Support for Investors

The summit focused extensively on ease of doing business and investor facilitation. Officials from the District Administration, District Industries Centre and MAITRI provided guidance on regulatory approvals, industrial permissions, Building Plan Management System procedures and various Industries Department schemes.

Naik assured investors that necessary permissions and administrative support would be facilitated through a coordinated single-window mechanism.

“Invest in Palghar with confidence. If you face any difficulty, approach the administration. Every possible assistance will be provided,” he told the business community.

Representatives from the banking sector also briefed entrepreneurs on financing options, while sessions covered insurance support for MSMEs, industrial safety, export opportunities, value addition and the Maharashtra Export Policy 2023.

Skill Development for Emerging Jobs

With the proposed investments expected to create 7,830 jobs, the summit also emphasised aligning skill-development programmes with the requirements of upcoming industries.

Priority skill areas identified included machine operation, fabrication, welding, electrical maintenance, quality control, packaging, recycling technology, chemical plant operations, production processes and industrial safety.

The summit was attended by Collector and District Magistrate Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Manoj Ranade, Deputy Conservator of Forests Niranjan Diwakar, Joint Commissioner (Industries and Services), Konkan Region, Sandeep Patil, Deputy Commissioner (Industries and Services) Upendra Sangale, along with senior officers from MIDC, Labour, DISH, Skill Development, Town Planning, banking institutions and other departments.
