Mumbai: Amid the controversy surrounding his statement, Kunal Kamra made it clear that he had no regrets about his remarks. He also informed the Mumbai police that he stood by his "gaddar" (traitor) comment, which was widely interpreted as being directed at Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde according to a report by NDTV.

Kunal Kamra also stated that he would only apologize if instructed to do so by the courts. His remark came after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis demanded an apology from Kamra, emphasizing in the Assembly that while freedom of expression is important, it should not extend to "low-level comedy" or disrespecting the Deputy Chief Minister as per reports.

Police sources also revealed that Kunal Kamra, who spoke to the police from Tamil Nadu, denied rumours suggesting that he had been paid by the opposition to target Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Kamra reportedly gave the police permission to review his finances to confirm that no such payment had been received, if necessary. This move was intended to address the allegations and further clarify his position.
