“The new draft proposal will be prepared in the next two weeks. We will consider the views of all educational entities.”
Mumbai : The teachers’ union expressed its gratitude towards Chief Minister Devedra Fadnavis for directing to scrap the draft of recommendations made by the state education department for the new National Education Policy.
The draft proposal, which has been withdrawn, was described as completely contrary to Constitutional mandate, anti-education, unscientific and insensitive. The recommendations made in the report asked to stop facilities extended to backward class students and handicapped students requiring special care.
It had also suggested to extend school hours from six hours a day to eight and not to make English and Hindi as compulsory subjects for up to Standard V.
Principal Secretary Education Nanad Kumar said: “The new draft proposal will be prepared in the next two weeks. We will consider the views of all the entities concerned with education, educational experts, teachers, parents and students.”
