Navi Mumbai: In response to the increasing demand from students and competitive exam aspirants, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced plans to establish new library and study centres across the city. The civic body aims to reduce overcrowding at existing libraries and ensure better access to quiet and resourceful study spaces for local youth.

Over 2,000 Students Already Rely on 31 Existing Study Centres

According to civic officials, new libraries are being planned in Sector 2, Nerul Gaon, and Turbhe stores, among other locations. These additions are expected to complement the existing 31 study centres, which currently serve 2,296 students and aspirants on a regular basis.

The decision comes after a significant increase in the usage of libraries such as Goregaon Library in Belapur, which alone caters to 1,005 students, and centres in Nerul Sector 19A, Vashi, and Airoli, all of which have reported heavy footfall from candidates preparing for state and central government examinations.
