The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will organize a special vaccination drive for persons with disabilities for age group between 18 to 44 years on June 10 at three civic hospitals. They do not need to stand in queue and can take the vaccination without any waiting period.
The civic body has already provided the facility to vaccinate persons with disabilities above the age of 45 years without queuing at any of the immunization centers. Now, disabled above 18 years and below 45 years can take the vaccination in the same manner.
The three civic hospitals where disable persons can visit for the vaccination are Mansaheb Minatai Thackeray Hospital at sector 15 in Nerul, Rajmata Jijau Hospital at sector 3 in Airoli and E.S.I.S. Hospital at sector 5 Vashi from 9 am to 5 pm.
Civic chief Abhijit Bangar has appealed to persons with disabilities falling in the age group to take the benefits of the special drive.
Earlier, disabled persons above 45 years of age have been allowed to visit any civic runs centre for vaccination centre without queuing. The civic chief Bangar had taken the decision following demand from a section of society.
Even the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) had taken a similar step last week and allotted one hour in the evening for disable persons for vaccination. As per the PMC decision, a disabled person can visit between 4 and 5 pm at the allotted center and vaccinate without waiting in the queue.
In the NMMC area, so far, 3 lakh citizens have been vaccinated and the civic body carrying out around one to two thousand vaccination per day, due to low availability.
