The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) did not receive any potential supplier for COVID 19 vaccine even after the week's extension given on May 22.
Now the civic body has extended the period by another week in order to meet the 4 lakh doses required. According to a senior civic official, a few agencies are ready to supply the vaccines but require more time to complete the documentation.
The civic body has floated a global expression of interest (EOI) on May 16 from manufacturers/ Indian partners/wholesalers/authorised distributors or Dealers to provide vaccines as there is short availability of vaccines in India. As per the EOI, the total cost of purchase will be around Rs 40 crores.
After floating a global tender, the civic body got queries from three agencies that agreed to provide the required number of vaccines. However, they failed to produce the necessary documents. “We have asked them to participate in the bidding and meanwhile complete the documentation as the civic body is extending the deadline for a week,” said the official.
The deadline of the second extension given on May 30 will end on June 5. “Now the potential supplier can submit their bid by 1 pm of June 5,” said the official. As per the EOI, NMMC has cold storage facilities at Central Vaccine Store, UPHC Vashi Gaon. The temperature for Storage facilities is from +20 to +80C. However if the facilities for storage and temperature requirement are incompatible with the vaccine the applicant will have to provide the required storage facility for the vaccine, till the point of vaccination. Currently, NMMC has 100 vaccination centres and may increase in the future.
After the issue of work order/ purchase order is completed, the delivery will be made within two weeks.
