Navi Mumbai News: Over 3,000 Volunteers Collect 11,000 Kg Waste In NMMC Cleanliness Drive Organised by Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan

Over 3,000 citizens participated in a large-scale cleanliness drive across Navi Mumbai on Sunday, collecting nearly 11,000 kg of waste. Organized by Dr. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan, Revdanda, the initiative was held to commemorate the 103rd birth anniversary of Maharashtra Bhushan awardee Dr. Shri Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari.

Navi Mumbai: Over 3,000 citizens participated in a large-scale cleanliness drive across Navi Mumbai on Sunday, collecting nearly 11,000 kg of waste. Organized by Dr. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan, Revdanda, the initiative was held to commemorate the 103rd birth anniversary of Maharashtra Bhushan awardee Dr. Shri Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) supported the drive to maintain the city’s reputation as one of India's cleanest.

“The campaign was strategically executed across all eight divisions of NMMC, focusing on highways and neglected areas. Volunteers actively cleaned roads in Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kopar Khairane, and Airoli divisions, starting at 7 am. The cleanup efforts resulted in the collection of 10,992.30 kg of waste,” said a NMMC officer.

Key figures from the NMMC, including Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, and officials from the Solid Waste Management Department, supervised the drive. Various department officers, sanitation inspectors, and cleaning staff also played a crucial role in its execution.

In the Belapur division, 193 volunteers covered a 14 km stretch and collected 644 kg of waste. The Nerul division saw 801 volunteers cleaning 16.10 km and gathering 3,119 kg of waste. In the Vashi and Turbhe divisions, 605 volunteers covered 25.60 km and collected 2,629 kg of waste.

The Kopar Khairane division witnessed 697 volunteers cleaning 18.20 km, collecting 1,653 kg of waste. Meanwhile, in the Ghansoli to Digha division, 753 volunteers covered 46.15 km and collected 2,947.50 kg of waste.
