In a notable move aimed at addressing marital distress, the News Media Journalist Association (NMJA) has launched a legal assistance initiative for individuals—particularly men—who claim to be facing harassment from their spouses. The service, which offers affordable legal advice, is now available across Navi Mumbai.

NMJA President Sudeep Gholap announced the initiative, emphasizing its goal to extend legal support to those often overlooked or unable to afford proper representation. “Many individuals going through troubled marriages, especially those suffering silently due to spousal harassment, lack access to affordable legal guidance. This step is aimed at bridging that gap,” Gholap said.

The initiative offers access to a panel of expert lawyers who will provide consultations, draft legal documents, and represent clients in court where necessary. The services will be available at nominal charges, making legal recourse more accessible to the economically disadvantaged.

This socio-legal support system has already been implemented, and the association is urging affected individuals to reach out via helpline number 9320304345 for assistance.

The initiative has received positive feedback from various community groups and is being seen as a progressive step toward addressing lesser-discussed domestic issues. NMJA’s effort is expected to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing discourse on legal rights and social justice in Navi Mumbai.
