In an era where relationships are increasingly fragile, the celebration of 60 years of marriage between Pandurang Sitaram Patil and Parvati Pandurang Patil at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi served as a powerful reminder of the strength and significance of marital bonds.
Organized by the Navi Mumbai Student and Youth Foundation, this Diamond Jubilee Wedding Anniversary event emphasized the importance of commitment, understanding, and mutual support in sustaining a lifelong partnership.

"In today’s fast-paced world, many marriages face challenges due to ego clashes, lack of communication, and unrealistic expectations. However, the Patil couple’s six-decade-long journey of love, patience, and sacrifice stood as a testament to the enduring power of a strong marital foundation," said an organisor.
He added, " Their unwavering dedication to each other demonstrated that a successful marriage is built on trust, shared responsibilities, and the ability to navigate life’s challenges together,"
The event was attended by dignitaries, including State Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, who honored the couple and praised their commitment as an inspiration for younger generations. Former MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik, former MLA Sandeep Naik, and renowned educator Prof. Avinash Kulkarni were also present.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Avinash Kulkarni stressed that patience and compromise are key to a happy marriage, and that ego is the leading cause of divorces today. He encouraged couples to approach marriage with understanding and selflessness, ensuring that temporary conflicts do not break the foundation of a lifelong relationship.
Former Opposition Leader Dashrath Bhagat echoed this sentiment, warning that prioritizing materialistic pleasures over family values leads to long-term unhappiness. He urged the younger generation to view marriage not as a burden, but as a source of emotional strength and fulfillment.
A notable moment in the ceremony was the symbolic weighing of the couple against grains and school notebooks, representing their contributions to society and the values they upheld in their marriage. The grains were donated to waste collector women in Vashi, and the notebooks were given to tribal students in Trimbakeshwar, reinforcing the message that a strong family creates a ripple effect of goodness in the community.

Event organizers highlighted the alarming rise in divorce cases, with 12 lakh divorces filed in India in 2024 alone, including 18,000 in the Mumbai High Court. They stressed that broken marriages not only impact couples but also affect children, families, and society at large.
"This Diamond Jubilee Celebration served as an eye-opener, reminding people that beyond momentary happiness, a strong, enduring marital bond is the true key to a fulfilling life. The event reinforced the belief that commitment, love, and resilience are the cornerstones of a successful marriage, ensuring stability for future generations," said the organisor.
