The Bhandup Division’s play ‘Kusum Manohar Lele’ secured the second position at the recently held Konkan Regional Inter-Divisional Drama Competition organised by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The first prize was awarded to ‘Aavart’ from the Ratnagiri Division.

The two-day drama competition, held at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje Natyamandir on June 20, witnessed enthusiastic participation from various divisional offices across the Konkan region. The award ceremony was presided over by  Rajendra Pawar, Director (HR), MSEDCL, who felicitated the winning teams.

Chief Engineer Dr. Manish Wath, Jalgaon Chief Engineer Ibrahim Mulani, General Manager (HR)  Rajendra Pandey, along with other senior officials, engineers, staff members, and theatre enthusiasts, were present for the event.

Praising the participants, Director (HR) Mr. Pawar noted, “Despite having limited time for rehearsals due to their 24x7 commitment to consumer service, the employees delivered performances on par with professional theatre artists. Their dedication and talent deserve applause.” He urged the workforce to maintain the same spirit in their daily responsibilities.

The Bhandup Division’s play ‘Kusum Manohar Lele’, written by Ashok Samel, revolves around a childless couple — Kusum and Manohar Lele — and their deceptive attempt to have a child through a fraudulent relationship with Sujata, a divorced woman. The complex plot unfolds as Sujata’s former husband, Sadanand Deshmukh, intervenes to reclaim the child in an unexpected way. The play received accolades for its compelling performance and direction.

Rupali Patil, who essayed the role of Sujata, won the Best Female Actor (First Prize) for her outstanding performance. The team’s preparations were closely guided by Mahendra Bagul, Deputy Chief Industrial Relations Officer, while Chief Engineer and Producer Sanjay Patil commended the entire cast and crew for their effort and dedication.

Awards won by Bhandup Division:

Best Female Actor (1st Prize): Rupali Patil

Best Director (2nd Prize): Chandramani Meshram

Best Male Actor (2nd Prize): Devvrat Pawar

Special Mention for Male Acting: Chandramani Meshram
