Navi Mumbai: A man allegedly made a hoax bomb threat call to the police control room to frame his friend over an old dispute, triggering a major security alert and keeping police on their toes through the night.
The accused, identified as Indrajeet Mishra, has been booked by CBD Police after investigations revealed that the threat was fabricated to falsely implicate his friend, Mohammad Imran, in a serious offence.
According to police, Mishra called the Navi Mumbai Police Control Room at around 10:10 pm on March 29, claiming that a person involved in the Mumbai bomb blasts was residing in Panvel and was planning another attack. He also shared his friend’s mobile number, alleging that he was the one behind the planned explosion and needed to be detained immediately.
Following the call, the police machinery was swiftly activated and a detailed verification of the caller and the provided mobile number was carried out. During the probe, it was revealed that Mishra had made the call under the influence of alcohol with the intention of getting his friend into legal trouble.
