Ahead of the civic elections, former corporators are trying to gain an insight to resident’s grievances and concerns. In a novel approach to address civic related issues, Seawoods based former corporator Bharat Jadhav has begun taking up sector wise meetings.

The node has more than 20 odd sectors. The former corporator is having combined meetings of few of the sectors wherein resident or society office bearers can voice their issues and problems. The first of the meetings was organised on January 19.

The activity is named as Samasya Samadhan Sabha (grievance redressal gathering) . “It is a medium whereby residents can come together and share their issues or even suggest solutions to prevalent matters. I have decided to club few sectors and invite the societies to bring this problem,” said the corporator

In the first meeting, sector 44, 44A and 36 belonging to ward no 111 was invited. Over 25 problems were raised by individuals as well as societies of these areas.  One of the prominent issues voiced was about not finding their names on the property tax issued by the Navi Mumbai Municipal corporation (NMMC). “ I have always been in the forefront to not just listen to residents grievance but also get it solved by raising it with the concerned authorities.  In fact I have a broadcast group of 20K members who  are well aware of the social service I undertake for the node.  This time around I thought it's better to have a comprehensive understanding about the problems,” said the corporator.

The issues discussed included rash driving in the area thereby posing a threat for pedestrians, the need for pruning of trees within the local gardens, the faulty indicator at the seawoods railway station, the need for parking provisions in the area etc. “For each of these problems I will now be interacting with the officials concerned to get these addressed at the earliest. It is precisely due to the meeting I have realized that there is a lot of confusion about the property tax structure as well as about the deemed conveyance hence I now intend to have a seminar wherein authorities will address the doubts,” said the activist.
