Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai Police's crackdown on drug trafficking continues, with APMC Police arresting two foreign nationals attempting to sell cocaine late on Saturday night. The accused, identified as Ifeanyi Uzoma Ausondu (56) from Nigeria and Sajini Memori Gama (49) from South Africa, were found in possession of 51.64 grams of cocaine worth Rs 20.65 lakh.

The arrests were made during a routine patrol by the APMC Police in the Kopri village area around 10 pm on Sunday. Officers noticed the two suspects behaving suspiciously. Upon spotting the police vehicle, they hurriedly entered a flat on the fourth floor of a building near the Marathi school in Kopri village.

Sensing something amiss, the police followed them to their flat. However, the suspects locked the door from inside, prompting the officers to intervene. After forcing them to open the door, the police conducted a search and discovered the cocaine hidden inside a mixer jar in the kitchen.

"We registered a case against the duo under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested them. The seized cocaine has been taken into custody, and both men were presented before the court, which remanded them to two days of police custody," police officer from APMC police station said.

The operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Ajay Shinde, Inspector Mahesh Mandave, Assistant Police Inspector Prabhakar Shivurkar, and Sub-Inspector Nilesh Kumar Mahadik, along with their team.
