Navi Mumbai: A 60-year-old man died, and his seven-year-old grandson was injured after a speeding, intoxicated biker hit their motorcycle in Suncity on Wednesday.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 5 PM on Wednesday when Chandrakant Khakham (60) was taking his seven-year-old grandson, Dhruv Singh, to a garden in Vasai, according to a Hindustan Times report. As they reached Suncity Road, a speeding motorcycle ridden by a drunk driver collided with their two-wheeler. The crash caused serious injuries to Khakham, Singh, the motorcyclist, and his pillion rider.

According to the report, all four were rushed to Balaji Hospital in Vasai, where Khakham was declared dead. Dhruv Singh sustained a leg injury, while the motorcyclist and the pillion rider are undergoing treatment, police confirmed. A case has been registered against the motorcyclist for rash and negligent driving.

In another news story of the road accident from Mumbai, a 45-year-old man lost his life, and an 18-year-old sustained serious injuries in a tragic accident on the Eastern Express Highway in the early hours of July 6. The mishap occurred when their motorcycle crashed into a container truck that had been dangerously parked on an incline near Vikhroli without proper safety measures.

The deceased has been identified as Bharat Mangilal Jain (Kothari), while the pillion rider, Jay Shankar Jain (Kothari), is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chembur.

According to Vikhroli Police, the accident took place at around 12:10 am near the Narayan Bodhe Bridge in Vikhroli East. Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Narendra Govind Magar, who was on night patrol with Mobile Unit 1, was informed by the police control room and immediately reached the spot.

Police confirmed that the container truck driver had failed to implement required safety protocols, directly leading to the crash. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
