Mumbai : Muslims celebrated Eid E Milad on Thursday, and the Sunni Dawate Islami group (a non-political religious organisation of Sunni Muslims) celebrated the festival in a unique way by gifting roses and greeting cards with a message, the greeting cards conveying a message by Prophet Mohammed. The members of the group were spread around 22 various places across Mumbai and its suburbs, distributing roses and greeting cards to whoever was coming their way, and wishing them a happy Eid.
“The objective to celebrate Eid in a different way was to spread the message of the Prophet, which is mercy, love and respect for all,” said an active member of the group, Mohammed Shahid. He also said,, “We were very happy gifting roses and greeting cards to every person coming our way and giving wishes on Eid. We saw peoples’ happy faces and we also felt good by celebrating the festival in a unique way.”
The locations that the Sunni Dawate Islami group visited included the domestic and international airports, municipal hospitals in Mulund, Vikroli, Mumbra, Nerul, Navi Mumbai and NRI police stations, and nine different railway stations on the western, central and harbour lines.
