Mumbai, September 1, 2026: Even after 14 years of having been accused of money laundering, the trial against the self-proclaimed scientist and miracle doctor Munir Khan could not begin. And now, due to Khan’s health condition, the court has decided to defer framing charges against him as his lawyers claim he is not mentally stable.
Khan’s lawyer Vikram Sutharia moved a plea last month pleading that Khan's health is deteriorating and he is not in a condition to understand the proceedings. The prosecution, however, has opposed the plea, claiming that being bedridden cannot absolve him from the prosecution trial.
Defence Raises Health Concerns
The defence has sought the court to form a statement that he is completely bedridden due to hemiplegia (paralysis) following his recent strokes.
“The applicant is not in a physical or mental state to remain present before this Hon’ble Court and the Applicant is beyond his control to understand the charge against him,” reads the application.
The defence sought to defer the framing of charges, claiming that, “unless the mental fitness of the Accused is first determined by a competent medical expert, any further proceedings, including the framing of charge and recording of plea, may prejudice the rights of the Accused and would be contrary to the principles of a fair trial.”
While the application is still pending for consideration, the special PMLA court has on Monday held that the trial cannot proceed against him in view of his medical and physical condition. The court has now ordered to proceed against the other accused in the case and frame charges against them in the coming week.
ED Case Dates Back To 2013
ED had in March 2013 submitted a prosecution complaint against Khan and three of his family members, including his wife and two sons, under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Khan was booked in multiple cases for allegedly cheating 120 people by claiming that his medicine 'Body Revival' can cure all diseases, including cancer, and also had celebrity clients. The medicine was priced at Rs 15,000 for a 100 ml bottle. The funds earned by selling these medicines were diverted into purchasing several properties by Khan.
