Mumbai: Mumbai and surrounding areas are set to receive light to moderate rains and thundershowers tomorrow, April 2. The rainfall prediction comes at a time when large parts of Maharashtra have been placed on alert for lightning, gusty winds, rainfall and even hailstorms over the next few days.
Yellow Alert In Thane
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai, a yellow alert has been issued in Thane and predicted thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall & gusty winds (30- 40kmph) at isolated places on April 2.

The weather department has predicted light rain along with thundershowers in Mumbai and Palghar on April 2. The weather from April 3 onwards will again be dry in Mumbai and Thane.
According to the CMO office, the weather alert warning has been issued in the districts of Khandesh, Marathwada, western Vidarbha, as well as the ghat areas of central Maharashtra. Orange Alert for 'thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds coming at the speed of 50–60 kmph and hail' include the districts of Dhule, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, and the entire Marathwada region and parts of the Vidarbha region.
AQI improves with weather change
Though there is no sight of rain in Mumbai since two days, the weather in the city witnessed a drastic change as cloudy skies and gentle winds brought much-needed relief from recent smog and rising pollution levels.
Meanwhile, Mumbai’s air quality has shown a marked improvement. Data from monitoring platforms recorded the city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 31 in the early hours today, placing it in the 'good' category. Residents too have been taking to social media and shsring images of the clear skies.
