Mumbai: For the past two weeks, the scanner machine at Gate No. 3, the main entrance of the Mumbai Police Commissionerate, has been out of order, causing significant inconvenience for both police personnel and visitors. The Mumbai Police Commissionerate has a total of six gates, out of which only four gates are currently active.

Gate No. 3, the main gate, serves as the primary access point. Police officers, staff, and civilians use this gate to enter the premises. All visitors are required to register in a diary before being allowed entry to meet the concerned officials.

However, the non-functional scanner at the main gate has disrupted the routine security process. Police personnel are now forced to manually check each bag and piece of luggage, making the screening process time-consuming and cumbersome for both visitors and on-duty officers.

In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, additional security protocols have been enforced. As a precaution, Gate No. 4 of the Commissionerate now closes at 8 p.m. instead of 10 p.m. This change has further inconvenienced police officers and staff who typically use that gate after duty hours.

Police officials say the delay in fixing the scanner has impacted daily operations and have urged for swift repair or replacement of the machine to restore efficient security checks.
