Mumbai: A shocking incident of harassment has come to light in Antop Hill where a young man befriended a 15-year-old schoolgirl on Snapchat, then blackmailed her into sending him obscene photos and videos, and later threatened to make them viral. Antop Hill police have registered a case against the Snapchat account holder and are investigating further.
According to the police, the accused, identified only as Arjun, first came into contact with the victim on Snapchat. Over time, he allegedly manipulated and threatened her into sending explicit content. When the girl tried to distance herself from him, the accused called her father and issued threats.
The 48-year-old complainant, an electrician, resides in Punjabi Colony with his wife and two daughters. His 15-year-old daughter studies in the 10th class at a school in Sion Koliwada. On the evening of May 30th, the complainant received a call from an unknown person who claimed to have explicit videos and photos of his daughter.
The caller threatened to make them viral if she didn't stop talking to other boys, implying she was not speaking with him. Shocked, the father assured the caller he would talk to his daughter and asked him to delete the videos and photos from his phone. Subsequently, the caller sent three objectionable videos and one photo of the daughter to the complainant via WhatsApp.
Upon returning home, the complainant informed his daughter about the unknown call and questioned her. She admitted to knowing the accused via Snapchat and revealed that he had blackmailed her into sending the obscene photos and videos.

In the presence of her father, the girl called the accused boy, he threatened her, saying, "Stop talking to a boy named Ayush, or I will make your obscene photos and videos viral." Following the incident, the complainant, along with his daughter, went to the Antop Hill Police Station and filed a complaint against a accused named Arjun, the Snapchat account holder.
Police have registered a case under sections 66 (E), 67, 67 (A) of the Information Technology Act. An investigation is currently underway, police said.
