Mumbai: The Sahar police have arrested two individuals, Salman and Jabrul, for allegedly running a sex racket in the Andheri area, said reports on Thursday. The duo is accused of targeting vulnerable girls, luring them with money and coercing them into prostitution. During the operation, police rescued a minor girl who has since been sent to a juvenile correctional home following a medical examination.

Acting on a tip-off about illegal activities at a guest house in Marol Naka, the police conducted a raid, uncovering the prostitution ring. The arrested suspects, Salman and Jabrul, were reportedly managing the guest house and orchestrating the trafficking operation.

Woman Facing Financial Issues Targeted

According to a Lokmat Times report quoting police, the accused primarily targeted young women facing financial difficulties. They manipulated these women with the promise of quick money, only to push them into the sex trade. The victims were sent to meet foreign clients, with the accused pocketing most of the earnings while offering the women only a small share.

Police officials revealed that the rescued minor was also being sent to foreign clients. Her testimony is expected to provide crucial insights into the modus operandi of the accused and help identify other potential victims.

Efforts To Uncover Larger Crime

Authorities believe the racket could involve a broader network and are actively pursuing leads to unearth additional suspects. The investigation has expanded to verify whether more individuals were involved in recruiting, trafficking, or facilitating connections with foreign clients.

In addition to identifying local accomplices, the police are also examining the involvement of international clients. Efforts are underway to track down these foreign nationals and determine their role in the illegal operation.

The case has raised concerns about human trafficking and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals in Mumbai. The cops are strengthening their vigilance against such rackets and collaborating with social organisations to support the rehabilitation of rescued victims.

Further legal action is expected as the investigation progresses, with authorities aiming to dismantle the entire network behind this trafficking operation.
