Mumbai: Ordinary citizens to be allowed to enter Mantralaya with pass from May 18

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020, entry to ordinary visitors was restricted by the government

The government of Maharashtra on Tuesday notified that citizens shall be allowed to visit Mumbai's Mantralaya's (Secretariat) building from May 18 onwards with Visitor Pass Management System (VPMS).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020, entry to ordinary visitors was restricted by the government.

The decision had come as a preventive measure to stop the spread of coronavirus or COVID-19. The State Home Department had also suspended the visitor pass management system till further notice.

Courier boys were also not allowed to enter the Mantralaya. The home department had also restricted the number of VIP visitors a minister can attend.

The number of visitors a minister or minister of state (MoS) can meet were also limited to 10 while the chief secretary and other department heads could only attend up to five visitors.
