Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will start rating its drivers in the wake of the recent accidents and the protests by them. BEST will assess the drivers in Mumbai every month, reported Hindustan Times. The goal of this initiative is to motivate drivers to perform better. By providing ratings, BEST aims to guide drivers on improving their driving skills and behaviour of drivers towards passengers.
As per the initiative, driver's good behaviour towards passengers will be recognised. “To improve the safety of passengers and reduce accidents, we are starting incentive programmes," a BEST senior official said as reported by Hindustan Times.

“We are looking to give star ratings to drivers. Every month, we will reward drivers who have a stellar record, zero accidents and have displayed good behaviour with passengers. We will also publicise this across all depots. Otherwise, drivers simply drive buses and are not recognised for their service. This can be motivation for other drivers to perform better. We have also begun training sessions for all drivers, including those on wet lease," he added.
