Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced additional buses for the upcoming summer holidays to ease congestion during the summer vacation. The authorities plan to operate 765 additional long-distance buses to manage the rush. MSRTC launches extra services every year, and this year, the special buses will run from April 15 to June 15, according to a report by Loksatta.

As the summer holidays approach, many commuters travel by bus from Mumbai to various locations across Maharashtra. To accommodate this increased demand, MSRTC has decided to add special buses to its routes during this period.

How to Book Tickets

To book tickets for the summer bus service, passengers can use several options. Tickets can be booked online through the official MSRTC website (www.msrtc.maharashtra.gov.in), the online booking portal (npublic.msrtcors.com), or the MSRTC mobile app. Additionally, MSRTC has introduced an advanced booking facility at the bus station reservation counters. Passengers are encouraged to plan their journey and book tickets conveniently through these options.

MSRTC Driver Dismissed For Watching Cricket Match While Driving

Following instructions from Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has terminated a contractual bus driver who was caught watching a cricket match on his mobile phone while operating the Dadar-Swargate (Pune) e-Shivneri bus service. In addition, the bus supplier under the wet lease contract has been fined ₹5,000. The bus, which departed from Dadar on March 22 at 7:30 PM, reached Pune at midnight.

Sarnaik also mentioned that similar complaints have been reported about auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers using earphones or watching matches and movies while driving. The transport department plans to introduce new regulations soon to address these hazardous practices.
