Another Fire Incident Reported This Week
A major fire broke out in a 13-storey residential building in Vidyavihar West early Monday, March 24, in the morning, resulting in the death of a security guard and injuring three others, including another guard.
The incident occurred at Takshila Co-operative Housing Society on Nathani Road around 4:35 am. The fire originated on the second floor, rapidly spreading to five flats and the lobby between the first and second floors.
The deceased, Uday Gangan (43), had attempted to douse the fire but became trapped due to thick smoke and intense flames. He sustained severe burns across his body and could not be saved. Three others, including another security guard, were injured in the incident.
Rescue Operations
The fire brigade, with the help of local residents, rescued around 20 residents from the building. Meanwhile, those on the upper floors sought safety in the refuge area and terrace until firefighters brought the blaze under control.
