Mumbai: The Bandra police have booked a 60-year-old woman for allegedly verbally and physically assaulting a BMC engineer during an anti-encroachment drive. According to the FIR, the incident took place on Monday when the civic team along with the police started action at Bazar Road.
Around 1pm, when they swooped on encroachments behind the Bombay Presidency Education Society near Hanuman Nagar in Bandra West, the accused, Hajra Pathan, began abusing BMC engineer Rishiket Chavan, said the FIR. Later, she attacked him, grabbing his collar and shouting that it was her home and that if they demolished it, she would not spare them, FIR added.

The senior citizen also allegedly attempted to attack other team members and refused to budge despite a woman police officer trying to calm her down. She has been booked for assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and criminal intimidation.
